I tried to buy a bag full at three in the morning,
Mom & Dad say,
ba ba ba bah ba ba ba bah...
I tried to use my grill, but I ran out of propane
I know that you'll feel better when
Mom & Dad say,
Sure, all of you familiar with Brian Wilson know of his "hamburger songs" of the '70s. But not many people know that
there actually WAS a song called "Hamburger" slated for the ill-fated Smile album. Hot off the heels of the "Elements Suite",
Brian contemplated a "Food Suite", which was to include: vegetables, hamburgers and of course reddi-whip for dessert!
Alas, like many of the other ideas for Smile, such as "Barnyard", "Hamburger" was recorded and quickly disgarded. A video
was shot, using a then unkown duo of Sid & Marty Crofft and puppets of large hamburgers (Many of these puppets were later
altered for use in "H.R. Puffenstuff").
Now, the lyrics for the unreleased song from Smile called, "Hamburger":
(note: sung to the same music as "VegeTables")
I'm gonna add cheese to my hamburger,
I'm gonna be pleased with my hamburger,
I love you most of all...my favorite hamburger...
If Dennis brought a great big bag of them home,
I'd jump up and down and write a song for a double.
I'm gonna keep well my hamburger,
dig that great smell of my hamburger
I love you most of all...my favorite hamburger...
but McDonalds was closed, all the cooks were home snoring.
Cook it well, heat it well, kill samonela...
Use grade-A meat...and you'll be...a happy fella
its red as a beat now and I'm so embarrassed...
when you drive through that window to order and
tell them the name of your
your favorite hambuger
Cook it well, heat it well, kill samonela
Use grade-A meat...and you'll be...a happy fella
