Honda News 2003!
So why did Wilson decide after more than 30 years to release SMILE? Brian explained, "Well, for
years everybody kept asking me 'what are the Elements, what are the Elements?'
[refering to the ELEMENTS suite on the unreleased SMILE album]...when I heard there was a
new car called ELEMENT,
I thought it would be a perfect put on! You know, a play on words, so that this new
generation can talk hip too? I figured that I've kept the fans in the dark long enough.
That's how the box set came about really"
The Element Tour is a unique promotion where music fans can catch one of rock 'n roll's biggest icons and
have a chance at winning a new customized Honda Element autographed by Brian Wilson and the
Wondermints.
Created and produced by melindapromitionsinc., The Element Tour is bringing the
new Honda Element closer to contemporary drivers, while offering music fans one of rock 'n roll's most mysterious albums
. Brian Wilson will autograph six all new Honda Elements along with copies of his upcoming box set SMILE: ELEMENTS, which will tour the country on display at his concerts.
These cars and box sets will be awarded to lucky fans through additional media promotions TBA.
A key design feature of the Element is the center
opening 'swing-wide' doors that have no B-pillar for maximum cargo loading flexibility.
Honda also has targeted a Five Star side impact safety rating for Element.
The flexible interior hauls four adults and their gear comfortably on road trips; or the rear
seats fold away to create a large and open interior capable of hauling just about anything that
can be used during the course of a weekend. The rugged interior is also designed to be
easy-to-clean. Additional features include a high-power AM/FM radio with 6-disc CD player and
MP3 player or video game outlets.
The Element is based on Honda's Global Compact Platform and will be powered by a 2.4-liter,
160-horsepower, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder engine. It will be available with either front-wheel-drive or
Honda's Real Time 4WD(TM). Both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions will be
available. The Element will be built at Honda of America Mfg.'s East Liberty (Ohio) Plant.
Element will go sale in December 2002, with first year sales (2003) of about 50,000 vehicles
expected. Pricing will range from $16,000 to $21,000. |
